Now in its fifth year the Guest of Honour institution has been created to reflect similar large international events aimed to introducing domestic readers and publishers with the creative work in the fields of literature and language of the country chosen for this title.
The Guest of Honour will be located in the Hall 1 Arena and will have an opportunity to present on its stand as well as conference rooms its own publishing industry and culture within an action-packed programme of social events, author showcases and educational seminars.
The Guest of Honour will present at the Book Fair the authors, translators, publishers, suppliers from its country as well as all those who are in one way or another connected to books. Establishing strong cultural bonds is one of the most significant targets of our cultural policy, while the Guest of Honour can be an important contribution in accomplishing this.
This year, the Guest of Honour at the International Belgrade Book Fair is Japan.
In 2005, мarking the 50th anniversary of the International Belgrade Book Fair an Open Book was introduced which after the ceremonial signing by the representative of Japan will be handed over to the representative of the new Guest of Honour in 2009. |
